Sessions & Approvals
Start focused work, continue earlier conversations, and decide what agents may do on your Mac.
Start a session
- Select a project.
- Choose CC Claude Code or CX Codex.
- Select New Session.
- Work in the terminal just as you would with the CLI on its own.
Resume or fork
| Action | Use it when |

| Resume | You want to continue the same conversation with its existing context. |
| Fork | You want a new branch of the conversation while keeping the original session intact. |
| New Session | You want clean context for unrelated work. |
Use session search to narrow a busy project. Refresh after making changes in an external terminal if they do not appear immediately.
Review a permission request
When an enabled hook pauses for approval, AskTerminal opens the top-of-screen panel and shows the requested tool and available context.
- Allow permits this request once.
- Allow Always permits future requests for the same tool without asking again. Use it only for tools you understand and trust.
- Deny blocks the request and returns control to the agent.
Inspect the result
Open the conversation to review recent activity, then use Changes to inspect modified files and diffs. Analytics can help you spot failed tools, permission-heavy work, and sessions that consumed substantial time or tokens.
Keep long work moving
Auto-resume can continue a session when a plan is assigned to it. Enable it from the session card only after the plan is clear. If the Mac sleeps, terminal work may pause; use the app’s background-running option when you intentionally leave long sessions unattended.
