Meet AskTerminal
AskTerminal brings your Claude Code and Codex sessions into one native macOS workspace, so you can start work, return to it later, review progress, and stay in control of tool approvals.
One home for sessions
See agent sessions by project, search their history, and resume or fork work without tracking session IDs yourself.
Your projects in context
Keep plans, instructions, skills, agents, files, analytics, and Git changes beside the work they belong to.
You approve the tools
Review permission requests from the top-of-screen panel and choose whether to allow once, always allow, or deny.
Start here
- Install and sign in to Claude Code, Codex, or both.
- Open AskTerminal and add a local project folder.
- Choose an engine and select New Session.
- Install the matching hooks in Settings if you want approvals inside AskTerminal.
Local-first: AskTerminal works with the projects, command-line tools, and agent history on your Mac. It does not upload your repository to an AskTerminal backend.

Choose an engine
Use CC for Claude Code and CX for Codex. AskTerminal can show both in one project. Features may differ because each CLI stores and exposes different session information.
